Compliance modes are built in
Healthcare and Legal "editions" are not separate products. They're modes you switch in Settings → Mode. Same install, same code, same free download.
Pro mode
All settings user-controlled. All integrations enabled — cloud AI providers, cloud storage, e-signature relays, LAN review. The everyday default.
Healthcare mode
Forces encrypted audit log, mandatory session timeout, disabled recent-files list, and blocks all external cloud AI providers — local Ollama only. HIPAA-friendly by architecture.
Legal mode
Surfaces privilege-aware AI guardrails (acknowledgment required before any cloud AI call), Bates numbering, eIDAS-qualified signing, and e-discovery-friendly metadata handling.

Is the app actually free with every feature?
Yes. The free download is the full app — local AI, true redaction, digital signatures, table export, audit logging, Healthcare and Legal compliance modes, everything. There is no Pro tier, no paywall, no degraded mode, and no required account.
What is the optional $19/year subscription for?
It removes a 5-second launch reminder that appears after a 60-day grace period, and it supports continued development. No features are tied to it. If you don't subscribe, the app keeps working with every feature unlocked — you just see a brief screen on launch asking you to consider a license.
What happens on day 61 if I don't subscribe?
A 5-second modal appears on each launch — "Using this at work? Your organization may require a commercial license." You can click Continue (or wait 5 seconds, or press Esc) and the app opens with full functionality. No watermarks, no feature limits, no degraded mode. The splash is the entire reminder.
Does the app work offline?
Yes — completely. Licensing makes no network calls at all: after you activate by pasting your PayPal subscription ID, the app checks it locally on each launch and your activation stays valid for one year. Document processing is fully offline too.
Does Vexifa ever see my documents?
No. The only network calls the app makes are a PayPal subscription check on launch and anonymous crash / usage telemetry to buggy.vexifa.com. AI processing, OCR, PII scanning, and redaction all run on your machine. Telemetry can be disabled by enterprise policy.
How do Healthcare and Legal compliance modes work?
Both modes are runtime settings, not separate products. Open Settings → Mode and pick Pro, Healthcare, or Legal. Healthcare mode forces encrypted audit log, mandatory session timeout, disabled recents, and blocks all external cloud AI. Legal mode adds privilege-aware AI guardrails and surfaces Bates numbering. Can IT departments lock down the app for managed deployments?
Yes. Deploy C:\ProgramData\Vexifa\policy.json via SCCM, Intune, or GPO. The policy file can force a specific Mode, disable individual features (cloud AI, cloud storage, telemetry, browser extension, LAN review, e-signature), and display a "Managed by your organization" badge in the app with your IT contact info. How do I cancel the subscription?
Sign in to your PayPal account, open your automatic payments / subscriptions, find Vexifa PDF Suite, and cancel it. Your subscription remains active through the end of the current paid period. After it expires, the launch splash returns — but the app still works with every feature. Vexifa is the merchant of record and handles refund requests directly via PayPal under its refund policy.
